Message from the Bishop

Bishop W.L. Butler

We believe the Bible to be given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, infallible and God’s revealed word to man. We believe that Scripture teaches that there is only one true and living God who has chosen to reveal Himself as Father, Son and the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22).

As Pastor of Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, I invite you to be a part of our ministry. We are an independent, Bible-believing church with a fervent desire to spread the message of "Jesus Christ". Our members are friendly: our services are informal and family-oriented: our music is anointed and heartfelt: and our messages are practical and based on God's Word. We strive to maintain a balanced ministry that can meet the great variety of needs in the lives of our family, friends and the community. We would love to have an opportunity to meet and minister to you and your family. Please enjoy our web site and let us know if we can be of any help.

Pastor, Bishop W. L. Butler, Sr.

Lady Christine Butler

First Lady of Cornerstone Pentecostal Church

Four Steps to a New Life

1

Accepting God's Love
Accepting God's love is the first step in your new life. God loves you so much that He gave His only son to die just for you. John 3:16 reads: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

2

Accept Jesus
Accept Jesus Christ into your life. He wants to be everything you need Him to be. Romans 10:9-10 reads: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

3

Invite Jesus into your heart
Invite Jesus into your heart. Just ask Him and He will come. Revelations 3:20 reads: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart.

4

Baptism
Baptism is a fresh start to your new life. Mark 16: 16 reads: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

Our History

Bishop Wilbert L. Butler was born in Langley, South Carolina. He professed and accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age at St. John Baptist Church. He is a product of the Langley Public School System.

On January 12, 1956 he entered the U.S. Air Force, serving four years including a tour in Thule, Greenland. In 1958 he was transferred to the Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio.

It was here that he united with Shady Grove Baptist Church were he served in various positions including , serving on the Deacon Board, Choir Director, and Devotional Leader. Bishop received his formal training from Aenon Bible College and The Bible Institute of Ohio.

God has given the Bishop a great testimony of healing. On February 23, 1971 he was involved in an explosion at his job that knocked him to the floor. He was burned over 50% of his body (including his face). It was there in Mercy Hospital room 332 he surrendered and accepted his call to preach the gospel. He made a vow to God, “ If you heal me I will preach your word.” Each and every day after he made that vow, the skin just began to grow back. Miraculously, Bishop Butler was completely healed without skin grafting; the doctors were amazed. He walked out of the hospital 3 weeks later. He preached his first sermon on Mother’s Day, May 9, 1971.

Upon delivering his first public sermon he was ordained and licensed as an Elder of the Gospel by the late Bishop C. M. Davis, Sr.

Bishop Butler is the founder of the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, which he established on the second Sunday in September 1972. He was appointed and consecrated to the office of Bishop in 1999.

Bishop is a man after God’s own heart and is truly a man of faith. He preaches the word of God without compromising. He is a visionary and has a great passion for the ministry. He is a dynamic leader and a divine preacher of the gospel and an extraordinary example of a God sent man who has deeply penetrated the hearts and souls of many through his leadership.
